Ben Dougherty– Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator
Coach Dougherty is beginning his 8th year of coaching for the Vikings after playing four years at William Jewell University in Liberty, Mo. He was hired as the new Head Coach this past offseason after having coached at Parkview for the last years. Coach Dougherty graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in both history and education. Coach Dougherty is a 2007 graduate of Glendale High School where he was a 3-year letterman for the Falcons, helping lead his team to 3 playoff appearances and 2 district titles. Coach Dougherty works in the History department at Parkview and also assists the wrestling and track teams. He and his wife Mallory have been married for 5 years and have twin 1 year old daughters, Hadley and Harper.
Andy McFarland –Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Coach McFarland is joining the Viking staff after having coached at Hillcrest 13 years, with 10 as the OC. He will be teaching in the PE department at Parkview this fall. Coach McFarland graduated with a Bachelor’s in Religious Study and Coaching from Missouri State. He also obtained his Master’s in education from Drury. Coach McFarland’s wife, Kirsten, is a librarian in SPS. They have been married for 10 years and have 2 children, Kyrah and Madden.
Scott Mitchell – Special Teams Coordinator/Running Backs
Coach Mitchell is starting his 11th season with the Vikings, he spent 3 years serving as Head Freshmen Coach and this year will be working with Varsity Running Backs. Mitchell is a native of Winamac, Indiana and was a two year letterman at Manchester College in IN. Coach Mitchell has a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from William Woods University and teaches Credit Recovery & Missouri Options at Parkview. Prior to PHS, Coach Mitchell has had coaching stops at Manchester High School in Indiana, as well as Carthage and Republic High Schools in Missouri.
Jeff Klein – Offensive Line
Coach Klein is from Tabernacle, New Jersey. Klein played offensive line in high school and college. While at Harding Coach Klein was a a 3 year starter and 1st team all-conference offensive tackle. He earned his Bachelors degree from Harding University, and his Masters Degree in Secondary Administration from Southwest Baptist University. Klein began his coaching career in 1985 as a graduate assistant at Harding. He has also served as head football coach at Willard and Mountain View Liberty. Coach Klein works in the Special Education Department of PHS as the Department Head. He and his wife of 27 years, Angie, have three girls: Kendall (PHS Grad ’09, former manager), Kara (PHS Grad ’16, former manager), and Kristen. Coach Klein’s is going on his 12th year coaching at Parkview.
Joel Baker- Wide Receivers/Head JV Coach
Coach Baker is joining the Viking staff from Hillcrest where he coached the receivers for the past 6 years. Coach Baker played basketball at Missouri Valley and has a degree in special education. He will be working as a behavior tech for the district this school year. He and his wife Alyssa have been married for 10 years and have 4 children together.
Darius Blow – Defensive Backs
Coach Blow will be entering his 7th season as an assistant for the Viking Football team, in his time with the Vikings he has worked with the Freshmen team, wide receivers, and currently serves as the Varsity Defensive Backs Coach. Blow played football for and graduated from Missouri State University in 2011. While at MSU he was a 2 year letterman at Outside linebacker and earned a degree in construction management. Blow attended Grandview High School near Kansas City, Mo and played quarterback. Coach Blow has served in the special education department at Parkview for 4 years.
David Randall- Defensive Line
Coach Randall joins the Viking staff after having coached at Pershing Middle School for the last two years. Before that he played at Glendale High School from 2009-2013, and at William Jewell College for two years. In addition to coaching the Varsity Defensive Line, he will be assisting on the JV level as well. Coach Randall will be student teaching this fall, looking to complete his degree from Missouri State in Secondary Education/Science.
Josh Woodiel – Outside Linebackers
Coach Woodiel is is a 2012 graduate of Parkview and is entering his 4th year coaching for his Alma Mater. Coach Woodiel will be going into his 3rd year teaching at Parkview in the science department. Coach Woodiel was moved from Head Freshmen Coach to Outside LB’s this past offseason. While a student at PHS, Woodiel was a standout student athlete, starting on the offensive line for the Vikings. Woodiel graduated from Missouri State University in 2016 with a degree in Science Education.
